How To Make Quick Tomato Sauce

For Pasta Or Pizza

This is a one-pot recipe and that is why it is my go-to Step 1: add passata, oregano, basil, onion powder, garlic granules, olive oil and salt into a saucepan and place over medium heat. Mix to combine and simmer for 10 minutes while stirring occasionally so it doesn’t burn or stick to the bottom of the pan. Step 2: You may use the sauce immediately and use in your pasta dishes or leave to cool completely and use as pizza sauce.

How To Blanch Tomatoes

Not a fan of passata or canned chopped or plum tomatoes? Then this is for you If using fresh tomatoes, remove the stems and rinse the tomatoes in cool water. Take the tomatoes one at a time, using a knife, make an incision (cross sign) on top of the tomatoes and add to a bowl. Repeat this process on all the tomatoes you would be using. Bring a kettle of water to a boil. Carefully pour the hot boiling water on the tomatoes and leave untouched for about 30 seconds. Drain the tomatoes in a colander and rinse under cold water. Peel the skin off the tomatoes, slice into 2 and de-seed before chopping into chunks. Use chopped tomatoes as desired for this sauce.

Tips For Making This Quick Tomato Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of sugar to tomato sauce if it is sour, this will balance the acidity in the sauce Puree or strain for a smooth sauce if you used chopped or plum tomatoes. This sauce is very easy to make but if you are making a large batch, portion into an individual airtight container or ice trays so it is easy to use as at when needed.
